Retail and Hospitality Information Sharing and Analysis Center (RH-ISAC) Joins as Official Champion of National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2017

Washington, DC — Retail and Hospitality Information Sharing and Analysis Center, which houses the Retail ISAC, today announced that it has become a Champion of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) 2017. The RH-ISAC is joining a growing global effort among businesses, government agencies, colleges and universities, associations, nonprofit organizations and individuals to promote online safety awareness.

Recognized every October, NCSAM was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure all digital citizens have the resources needed to stay safer and more secure online while also protecting their personal information. As an official Champion, the RH-ISAC recognizes not only its commitment to cybersecurity, but to online safety and privacy.

We are proud champions of National Cyber Security Month, committed to enhancing cybersecurity and ensuring a secure internet. The RH-ISAC, which houses the Retail ISAC, is expanding the real-time sharing of cyber threat intelligence and working to better protect the industry as a whole,” said Suzie Squier, Executive Director of the RH-ISAC.

Coordinated and led by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), NCSAM has grown exponentially since its inception, reaching consumers, small- and medium-sized businesses, corporations, educational institutions and young people across the nation and internationally. Kicking off NCSAM’s 14th year, this October presents a new opportunity to expand cybersecurity and privacy education and awareness globally.

“The Champion program is a vital part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month’s ongoing success. 870 organizations joined last year, a 24-percent increase from the year before,” said Michael Kaiser, NCSA’s executive director. “We are thankful to our 2017 Champion organizations for their support and commitment to our shared responsibility of promoting cybersecurity and online safety awareness.”

The RH-ISAC will kick off National Cyber Security Awareness Month at its Annual Cyber Intelligence Summit on Oct 3-4. The Summit bringing together 200 CISOs and their teams from the greater retail and consumer services industries – including restaurants, hospitality, convenience stores and more – to share best practices, gain insights and, most importantly, network with other information security professionals.

The Summit allows for the opportunity to meet with other information security professionals to build that trust. The agenda addresses the key challenges and issues of strategic retail leaders and tactical practitioners.
